“ By far my favorite sushi. I'm no longer in mke, and I miss this spot so much. My boyfriend and I have been here dozens of times. We have tried many sushi restaurants in both Milwaukee and Chicago, and nothing is quite like hungry sumo. It is a pretty small restaurant so you can expect wait long wait times for walk-ins at peak times, but it is well worth the wait. Lighting is super ambient, romantic, but is still casual enough that it's not excessively expensive like some other places. Gosh, I miss this place, when I am back in town I'll back. Highly recommend. ”
“ This is the best sushi I've found in the area! So many wonderful choices, and all the seafood tasted extremely fresh! I wish I could remember some of the names of the rolls aside from the sashimi we tried, but none of it was a disappointment. I thought the seaweed salad was a touch slimy & didn't entirely appreciate the mochi coming with piles of whipped cream (which I generally love to indulge in) but otherwise, would likely have been close to a 5. Great spot, love the ambience, and very kind staff. I can see why it's a popular joint! ”
“ Literally the besttttt sushi everrrrrr! Came here for valentines and it was just so cute. The waitress was very attentive and was very intelligent with the order of drinks and food. Although the wait was about an hour since there are no reservations we still had a great time going around discovering the block. We ordered this specialty sushi first and then we wanted more because it was so good and so we followed up with some of the classic sushi. ”

I've visited multiple times, and each time the service has been great. The atmosphere is fairly casual. The rolls are well-crafted and perfectly balanced. My favorite item on the menu, however, is the sumo pork bun! ”
“ Food: 5/5, probably a top 3 meal I've had in milwaukee. The ramen is the best I've had in two years. It's perfect for the cold winter months. The sushi is also incredible, got the rainbow roll. The fish was fresh and tasty! Service: 5/5, our waiter was helpful, friendly, and quick! Ambiance: 5/5 good vibe inside. They don't take reservations and it's not a big space, so make sure you go earlier in the day. But highly recommend eating in there! ”
“ Our favorite sushi place in town just became our favorite ramen place too! The tonkotsu ramen was so flavorful and they don't skimp on the pork belly either. Just be prepared to wait on weekend nights but it's so worth it! Service has always been prompt and helpful every time we come. There's also one TV in case you wanted to catch the packers game when you're here too. The murals and neon signs on the wall add to the vibe here too. ”
“ There are quite a few options for sushi and Thai in Milwaukee but Hungry Sumo is one of my go-to's! My favorite starters on the menu are: potato egg rolls, creamy crab wontons, the avo & mango tartare (a unique and flavorful combo). My favorite soup: Tom Yum with chicken; I love the heat and the sweet and spicy flavor. My favorite classic maki: Godzilla, Tempura California, Drogon, Tempura Philly Favorite contemporary maki: Smoky Rocky Favorite: Veggie Maki: Sweet Potato Tempura Favorite entree: Pad Thai with chicken, Pad See Eiw with beef, Fried Rice with beef They do not take reservations but they're worth the wait! ”
“ Dreaming of the next time we get to dine again at Hungry Sumo! Staff were friendly and the food was so delicious. A little small inside, therefore I'm not sure this would be a great place for bigger groups to dine in, but for our date night it was great. Can't wait to try more of their menu. ”
“ Highlights 1. One of my favorite BayView restaurants 2. Great Sushi 3. Friendly Service This is hands down my favorite Thai/sushi place in BayView, MAYBE even Milwaukee. We get take out from here all the time (you can order online) and recently have ended up here on a few occasions for the lunch special. The lunch special (week days) is a total steal! You can get 3 sushi rolls for $17 or a 3 course lunch special for $15. Everything is always so flavorful, fresh and well-portioned. The staff is very knowledgeable about dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegan etc). They have a special menu with everything labeled. Service is always quick and friendly. Love this place! ”
